Andrew Muldrow - Longer Note

1. Andrew Maldrough (Muldrough
thought to arrived in this country, along with wife Jean Joan? in the early
1730s. Arrival Port NewCastle or Philadelphia.

Andrew and Jean probably settled in Bucks County Pennsylvania, thence to
Augusta County Virginia in 1745. This route was commonly used by the
Ulster Scots from northern Ireland.

Andrew Maldrough appears in Augusta County Va. records on March 18,
1746/47 and on May 20, 1747 in connection with certain public duties.
His will was received and ordered to lie for further proof on March 21,
1759. His widow moved from near Nimrod Hall to the mouth of the Cow
Pasture River in Botetourt County. His will discloses he had two
infant, John and Hugh. (infant then could mean under age.)

Genealogists James English Cousar and Hal Eustace have traced the
Maldroughs back to the Ulster Scot Settlement at Ballynahinch, Ireland
then to Wigtown, Kirk Cudbright Minnegoff Paris, Scotland. According to
Eustace (his mother a Muldrow) the earliest written record of the
Muldrow family was the disposition of the estate of Thomas MacMulderoch
May 15, 1582. He lived in Carrick, Parish of Stratoune, "within
Clayock". His will was proved up, apparently, by his two sons-in-law
John M. Quhonnell (McConnel) and John M'Willie. They lived in Glencraig
and Watterseid, respectively. The daughters of Thomas were Bessie and
Marian. Thomas left something to John M'Mulderoch.
