Mamie Clonts Murray Obituary
Mamie Clonts Murray, wife of Andrew G. Murray, died at Sullivan Tuesday, Dec.
6. She had attained the age of 76 years, 3 months and 27 days.
Mrs. Murray was born near Barryman in Crawford county, Missouri, on Aug. 9,
1879, where she spent her childhood. On Jan. 21, 1903, she was married to
Andrew Gratz Murray and seven children were born. One son, Jowel Gratz Murray,
preceded her in death as a young child. She lived the early part of her
married life in Crawford county, Missouri, and moved to Sullivan in 1924,
where she has lived since. She was baptised as a girl into the Cumberland
Presbyterian.
Surviving are her husband, Andrew of Sullivan; five daughters, Daphna Hopkins
of Lawrenceville, Ill., Nellie Lewis of River Forest, Ill., Josephine Tourville
of Sullivan, Mamie Murray of Clayton and Lillian Miller of Brentwood; one son,
William R. of Caruthersville, Mo.; one sister, Eula Cook of Decatur, Ill.;
one brother, Horace Clonts of Turley, Okla.; three grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Murray lay in state at the Eaton funeral home. Services were conducted
from the Assembly of God church on Friday, Dec. 9, with the Rev. O.H. Virgin
officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Memorial cemetery at Sullivan.
