Letter to Belle
October 8th 1903
Miss Belle Hardy
kind friend
I hope, Belle, you will not think hard of me for not being in Bourbon Saturday
evening as I told you, I was there Saturday morning and went to Cuba on the
train thinking that I would be be Oct 3 in the evening but the evening train was
late to when I got to Bourbon it was dark, and the weather Sunday morning was so
bad that I concluded there was no use coming down to see you about going out to
the basket dinner. Now, Belle, I would love to see you and have a talk with you
if there is a girl in this country that has a warm spot in my affections, Belle
it is yourself and if it would be agreeable with you Bell I should like very
much to call on you next Sunday evening it it wuits you we will take a drive
over out to your home if you should desire. Now, Bell, if this is agreeable
with you, answer so I can hear from you by Saturday evening. I blieve I can't
tell you something, Bell so good bye
your friend
