Mrs. Minta Keeney
Mrs. Minta Keeney, widow of the late David Keeney, passed away Friday, December
9, at 1:16 p.m. following an illness of pneumonia. She was 62 years, 1 month
and 16 days of age. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at two
o'clock at the Taylor Avenue Methodist church by her pastor, Rev. A.C. Johnson,
asisted by Rev. Jas. Miller, pastor of the Free Will Baptist church. Interment
was in Woodlawn cemetery with Caldwell's services in charge.
Minta Ruggles, daughter of Benjamin and Lucinda Ruggles, was born in Washington
county, Mo., October 23, 1870. In her early girlhood she was converted and
joined the Methodist church, and lived the life of an earnest Christian since
that time. On December 14, 1898, she was united in marriage to David Keeney,
who preceded her in death seventeen years ago. Four children were born to their
union, one daughter, Lucille, having died eleven years ago. She is survived by
one daughter, Hallie, (Mrs. Chester Borth) of Esther, with whom she made her
home, two sons, John and Carrie, of Gofftown, also two brothers, Carrie Ruggles
of Flat River and Frank Ruggles of St. Louis; one sister, Mrs. E.N. DeClue of
Springfield, Mo., and three grandchildren besides many other relatives and
friends.
Mrs. Keeney had been in failing health for about two years. Two weeks ago she
contracted pneumonia for the fourth time. Everything possible was done for her
but she succumbed as stated above.
