Hospital Letter

[letterhead] Southern Idaho Mental Hospital Idaho Insane Asylum Blackfoot,
Idaho [letterhead]

December 5th, 1928

Dear Sir:-

We have received your letter of November 30th in which you ask for
information about your father Benjamin Muldrow- when Mr. Muldrow was
admitted here his mind was so disturbed that we were unable to get any
information from him and the only name sent to us from the probate court
was that ofJohn Muldrow- New London, Missouri. When we first noticed
Mr. Muldrow growing poorly physically, we notified John Muldrow- but could
never get any response from him until we wired that Mr. Muldrow had died
and it seems that now his relatives are quite numerous and apparently
very much interested. Your father was not emaciated when he came here,
nor when he died- but was thin and bald and no doubt looked older than
he really was. He was very noisy and violent and very hard to care for
up to the very end. I cannot say that he suffered in as much as his
death really was caused from exhaustion from acute mania an d not from
a bodily sickness that would cause pain. He was admitted here the 22nd
day of October. He had absolutely nothing with him and we presume he had
no worldly goods at all. His mania seemed to be of a religous nature.
He was committed to the asylum from the court and by Judge Lamson of
Cames County and it is possible they could give you some information
as to his life before coming to Blackfoot. As to his burial, upon the
advice of his brother we buried him here in the asylum cemetary and of
course that is done with just as little expense as possible- and yet as
nicely as possible under the circumstances; It is done here possibly
the same as in any state institution. We have no way of know ing how
long he was in Idaho or whether he had a family or where he was before
coming to this state.

I hope the above is the information you want and can assure you it is the
best we can furnish from here. If we receive any other communications
we shall refer them to you for information as there seems to be a letter
come in quite frequently regarding Mr. Muldrow.

Yours truly,

Geo. Williams
Supt.
