Clemmie Elizabeth Hardy Obituary

Clemmie Elizabeth Hardy, wife of Mr. James Henry Hardy, passed away Wednesday,
May 3, 1944, at 12:15 p.m., following a short illness. She was 79 years 10
months and 11 days old.

Clemmie Elizabeth Bishop, daughter of the late William and Sarah Bishop, was
born in Warren County, Mo., on June 22, 1864. In her early girlhood she was
converted and joined the Methodist Church and lived the life of a zealous
Christian since that time. On January 12, 1888, she was united in marriage to
James Henry Hardy. To this union were born four daughters and three sons.
Three of the daughters preceded her in death., She is survived by her husband,
the daughter Mrs. Carrick Ruggles of Sullivan, Emil and Charles of Sullivan and
Raymond of Bourbon. A brother, John Bishop of Anthonies Mill also survives.
She is survived by a half sister Mrs. Rose Record of Sullivan and three half
brothers, William Powers, Bourbon, Mo.; Frank Powers, St. Louis and Joseph
Powers, also of St. Louis. Fourteen grandchildren, five grandchildren [could
this be a typo and really mean great grandchildren?} and many other relatives
and many friends survive.

Funeral services were conducted by the Reverend L.H. Owens, pastor of the First
Baptist Church of Sullivan, at the Linstromberg Funeral Home Bourbon on Friday
afternoon, May 5, at 2:30 o'clock with interment in the Hardy Cemetery.
